ISLAMABAD: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shehbaz Sharif submitted his reply i
n the court against the Rs 30 billion defa
mation case filed by PTI’s Secretary General Jahangir Tareen in local court.
According to details, Islamabad District and Sessions Judge Mufti Kamran Basharat conducted the hearing of the defa
mation case on Saturday. The counsels of both parties appeared before the court. The court had sought reply from the CM, while issuing notices, including a stay order o
n the case.
CM’s
Counsel Mustafa Ramday has submitted a reply i
n the court, which states that petitioner Jahangir Tareen is the director and share holder of two major companies and wrote off loans. It is worth mentio
ning here that Jahangir Tareen had filed a defa
mation suit worth Rs 30 billion against Shehbaz Sharif on leveling allegation of write off loans.
The defa
mation case states that the CM, on April 25, 2016, during his address in public meeting levelled a baseless allegation on Jahangir Tareen of write off loans and repeated the same allegations in a press conference on October 26 instead
of apologising.
