KHAIRPUR: At least 25 people were arrested after police conducted search operations and raided religious seminaries ahead of Muharram.
The suspects – including one from Astore valley in Gilgit-Baltistan – have been shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation. The operation was led by Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Imran Khokhar to main law and order for the upcoming month of Muharam.
He said that the proscribed Ahle-Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) has agreed to close all seminaries till mid-Muharram and requested various religious parties to cooperate as no one is above the law and strict action will be taken against any violators.
