ISLAMABAD – On the invitation of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif will leave for Saudi Arabia on Wednesday.
The prime minister and the army chief will witness the ongoing military exercise ‘North Thunder’ and its closing ceremony. Troops from 21 countries, including Pakistan are participating in the exercise in the northern region of Saudi Arabia.
The main goal of the exercise is to improve training in response to the threat posed by terrorist groups. The prime minister will hold talks with Saudi King and discuss Middle East situation, bilateral ties and Saudi-Iran tension.
Nawaz will also hold meetings with heads of states during the visit. He will stay in Saudi Arabia for 3 days while army chief will stay therein for two days.
